Ceile Dancing and Riots and Skipping.

WEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! Have been trying for a week to upload photos onto my blog so this is late.......

Paddys day was Fun.

Kila rocked in The Apolo. Crazy biscuits seeing the band I used to see play in my school hall play in Barcelona, where the crowd were going wild dancing but no one knew what the hell I was on about with my ´isteach, amach, cailini trasna, buachailli trasna!
We missed the riots.....I don´t get it....you can drink on the streets Aaaaany day in this city without a bother but I guess everyone decided to irish it up by organising a ´permitted´ boozing it up session (bottellon=big bottle) and then wrecking the gaff......
Luckily enough we left the raval before it started, dropped Killians parents back to the hotel and went to Poble Nou for a free party in a warehouse where DJ Rupture was playing. There was a huge skipping session with a big rope outside on the road..no one was really any good but it was some laugh anyway.
Then it was barking all the way home for bowls of popcorn and beers...Not before Tom and I attempted once again to do crabs on the street- where you lie on your back and push yourself up onto your hands and toes.....like a crab...falling over.

Shot

I assisted a photographer on saturday...rather gruesome 80s backdrop that I don´t know if any photoshopping could really fix and the posing..oh dear...but I got a small chance to work with the model and here´s one shot...must learn vocab for tilt your chin, face a little more towards the light, all the stuff you don´t even notice you´re saying when you´re working until you´re trying to conjugate verbs and the model is looking at you rather strangely because you´ve asked her to bend her lips instead of her elbow.....ah.....but what fun all the same.

CASA PACO

Casa Paco ROX.

It´s like dancing round your living room when loads of people have crashed your party but they´re total soundies so it´s all cool.
And if you get hungry you can run across the square that´s always full of dogs and eat in Pizza Paco. There´s nut oil with chillis to spill on your pizza.
There´s a playground in the square too with see saws and sand to fall in.
Some people dance like crazy, some people fall over, some people sing, some people play music, some pour drinks, some put the coats somewhere safe, some take photos and EVERYONE talks and laughs all night.Such fun.

Killian and Tom play there tonight, ha ha look at the flyer, DJs Tom y Redmond...Tommy Redmond boy.

It will be cool.

I have my first photo job later this afternoon, marvelous.

Gonna drink some coffee and eat some cake now.

My Projects

At the mo I am working on doing visuals for this gig below, the TOM WAITS one.
How cool....visuals for Tom Waits lyrics.
When I get home from work I start setting paper boats on fire and throwing dice on them whilst trying to film them on paulas camera or try to make a spotlight out of cardboard tubing and a reading light to photograph a teddy gorilla (thanks dad) climbing up the curtains...LOTS more work to do...such fun. Now I just gotta learn how to use flash to put it all together. Hey so if anyone fancies going to this gig its on the 13th march and it will be cool.

NEW YEARS EVE!

In Spain they don't sing auld langs syne. thats a strange thing to do here. What they do do is stuff a grape into their mouth for each of the last 12 seconds of the year....which is quite hard to do so i am very happy i managed to do it and get a photee of everyone else at the same time. PRO. And then at midnight every kisses and hugs with a mouthful of grapes. It's rather splendid.
Also splendid was our sixties themed partay. Una was over and gave it socks. Kike and Vicki and Diego came from Zaragoza. Our house was invaded for 20 minutes by a million drunk french people i didn't know but then they left.
Such fun.

FEAST!!!!!!!!!!

REVIEWS:

We're loving this sick 4 track sampler from Belfast's Takeover label featuring a mish-mash of artists doing some ill underground breaks/electro and dub-style shit. This 5 tracker cuts a deep path thru electro, dubstep, breaks and dancehall with our fave being the Ed Devane/Redmonk/Thatboytim-produced "Guilty Feet Got No Rhythm", a firing slice of spannered breakbeat pressure.

AND........

The Belfast Takeover crew come up with another showcase for these new and not-so-new artists, fitting five tracks of varying style and consistently high quality onto a single slab of vinyl. Plenty of unexpected sonic treats here, with a common theme: bass. These five tracks cut across several genres - electro, dubstep, dub techno, breaks, dancehall, straight dub... there are some truly sparkling gems here from Black Sea Project, Deverb, Ed Devane, Redmonk, and Thatboytim.... so much talent in one place... great, innit?!

Ali McBeal and Alligators in the Floor

This morning was baaaad......I woke up with an ali mc beal song in my head after dreaming about a 4year old boy who had the best aim in the west shooting stickmen soldiers.......actually that dream was kinda cool but the dream I had before that......I was talking to Roisin about 'where my life is going' and I realised at the end of the dream that my life had gone 'so digital, sob'.........No clue what I meant by that but it explained everything for me in the dream..... it sounds ridiculously lame anyway.......
yeah so I woke up with an ali mc beal tune in my head and it was one of those mornings you CANNOT move........I tried to think of all the nice things happening this week- moving house, getting paid, killians gig, soup for lunch, mojitos on pay day, nice clothes to wear.......nothing worked...I would happily have given up all that for the morning in bed......but of course I did get up but didn't have time for breakfast and hurried about emptying the muesli jar and ladling soup into it because we'd left all the lunch boxes in work.....all the time fuming about that dumbass ali mc beal song and trying to figure out what 'my life has gone so digital' means.
Work started out SOOOOOOOO boring I felt like crying.....but then den den DEHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A giant alligator started breaking up through the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well thats what I thought....we didn't know what was causing it but the floor was coming up in the shape of a giant alligator....the tiles were cracking and snapping and raising up......Killian (the legend) started telling everyone bout that film the Tremors where the giant alligators break up through peoples floors......
Everyone was so freaked and screaming and jumping about.....Earthquake! Giant Alligators! Building collapsing!!!!
It was very exciting....
It's stopped now and everyone's back to work.... with a few worrying hills in the floor and burst open tiles.....I'm daydreaming the way I used to in school....maybe the office will have to be shut down for a week for repairs........like in Scoil Lorcain when the roof was leaky and we all got three days off........but stinker supervisor said that we'd work from the store-room if that happens......
In other news I have €6.30 til payday...which, thank god, is Wednesday...and James Blunt is playing AGAIN on the goddamn spanish radio....
