My Projects

At the mo I am working on doing visuals for this gig below, the TOM WAITS one.
How cool....visuals for Tom Waits lyrics.
When I get home from work I start setting paper boats on fire and throwing dice on them whilst trying to film them on paulas camera or try to make a spotlight out of cardboard tubing and a reading light to photograph a teddy gorilla (thanks dad) climbing up the curtains...LOTS more work to do...such fun. Now I just gotta learn how to use flash to put it all together. Hey so if anyone fancies going to this gig its on the 13th march and it will be cool.

NEW YEARS EVE!

In Spain they don't sing auld langs syne. thats a strange thing to do here. What they do do is stuff a grape into their mouth for each of the last 12 seconds of the year....which is quite hard to do so i am very happy i managed to do it and get a photee of everyone else at the same time. PRO. And then at midnight every kisses and hugs with a mouthful of grapes. It's rather splendid.
Also splendid was our sixties themed partay. Una was over and gave it socks. Kike and Vicki and Diego came from Zaragoza. Our house was invaded for 20 minutes by a million drunk french people i didn't know but then they left.
Such fun.

FEAST!!!!!!!!!!

REVIEWS:

We're loving this sick 4 track sampler from Belfast's Takeover label featuring a mish-mash of artists doing some ill underground breaks/electro and dub-style shit. This 5 tracker cuts a deep path thru electro, dubstep, breaks and dancehall with our fave being the Ed Devane/Redmonk/Thatboytim-produced "Guilty Feet Got No Rhythm", a firing slice of spannered breakbeat pressure.

AND........

The Belfast Takeover crew come up with another showcase for these new and not-so-new artists, fitting five tracks of varying style and consistently high quality onto a single slab of vinyl. Plenty of unexpected sonic treats here, with a common theme: bass. These five tracks cut across several genres - electro, dubstep, dub techno, breaks, dancehall, straight dub... there are some truly sparkling gems here from Black Sea Project, Deverb, Ed Devane, Redmonk, and Thatboytim.... so much talent in one place... great, innit?!

Ali McBeal and Alligators in the Floor

This morning was baaaad......I woke up with an ali mc beal song in my head after dreaming about a 4year old boy who had the best aim in the west shooting stickmen soldiers.......actually that dream was kinda cool but the dream I had before that......I was talking to Roisin about 'where my life is going' and I realised at the end of the dream that my life had gone 'so digital, sob'.........No clue what I meant by that but it explained everything for me in the dream..... it sounds ridiculously lame anyway.......
yeah so I woke up with an ali mc beal tune in my head and it was one of those mornings you CANNOT move........I tried to think of all the nice things happening this week- moving house, getting paid, killians gig, soup for lunch, mojitos on pay day, nice clothes to wear.......nothing worked...I would happily have given up all that for the morning in bed......but of course I did get up but didn't have time for breakfast and hurried about emptying the muesli jar and ladling soup into it because we'd left all the lunch boxes in work.....all the time fuming about that dumbass ali mc beal song and trying to figure out what 'my life has gone so digital' means.
Work started out SOOOOOOOO boring I felt like crying.....but then den den DEHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A giant alligator started breaking up through the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well thats what I thought....we didn't know what was causing it but the floor was coming up in the shape of a giant alligator....the tiles were cracking and snapping and raising up......Killian (the legend) started telling everyone bout that film the Tremors where the giant alligators break up through peoples floors......
Everyone was so freaked and screaming and jumping about.....Earthquake! Giant Alligators! Building collapsing!!!!
It was very exciting....
It's stopped now and everyone's back to work.... with a few worrying hills in the floor and burst open tiles.....I'm daydreaming the way I used to in school....maybe the office will have to be shut down for a week for repairs........like in Scoil Lorcain when the roof was leaky and we all got three days off........but stinker supervisor said that we'd work from the store-room if that happens......
In other news I have €6.30 til payday...which, thank god, is Wednesday...and James Blunt is playing AGAIN on the goddamn spanish radio....

BARK BARK

I dreamt about the hound Jess this morning...we were on Killiney beach and I was throwing stones for her to chase and she was pegging it up and down the beach and we were both having the best laugh. Then I found a green tennis ball and threw it for her and it bounced so high and the two of us laughed and chased in and out of the spray and I think it might have been the best dream I've ever had.
She is a cool dog.

Job search in Barcelona

SO.......

I miss photography...I'm planning a fashion shoot soon with model and make-up artist and quite a kick ass idea too if I say so myself so thats cool....
And every week or so I look at loquo, a site to find flats, jobs, roommates, adopt dogs, buy bikes......everything I need in barcelona...
And I always look at the artist jobs even though its nothing but jazz pianists and guitar lessons but still I look.....all the photography jobs are porn. NO KIDDING. Now I wouldn't mind so much if the 'photography' jobs were taking the porn pictures....c'mon americans spend more on porn than they give to charity (bill hicks said so and I believe it) so it's a valid industy..not my first choice but at least its a real photography job if thats your buzz...but its not even taking the porn photos- its modelling in them...of course they're advertised as 'photography job'... For a while Ed and Killian would email me or show me ads but everyones copped on now...BUT........

I saw this ad and I thought...oh......a real photography job..how odd...wow imagine, I could get a photography job....wow it could all start here....

busco fotografo para sesion
But of course.......when I clicked it......

Modelo de 21 aƱos con algo de experiencia busca fotografo para hacer sesion fotografica tipo Playboy.
Agradeceria seriedad y buen gusto.
Al responder remitire diversas formas de contacto asi como muestra fotografica

Even if you don't understand spanish 'tipo playboy' kinda gives it away...

sigh.......

birdies

I've been wondering lately bout the birds. THE BIRDS! ha ha....
no but I have been wondering- about now all the birds in Ireland fly south, seeing them on the wires always reminds me of going back to school when I was seven and school was fun and Maire my teacher describing how the birds all sit on the telephone wires to have a chat about the best route south for their holidays and if you're lucky you'll see them all take off at the same time...and I always liked to imagine them flying south to spain and africa......and if there was anyway I could go with them and how did they fly over the oceans especially in the dark.......
NOW the thing I'm wondering is- do spanish birds fly south too? Like do they go further south? And also- might we have Irish birds in Barcelona this winter? or is this not far south enough....I daydream A LOT at work and when it gets really boring (which is all the time) I think about these little birds with Dublin accents going wha's the stooory bud to all the little spanish birds.....

Blocked Drains and Custard

So tonight was the first night in a gazillion years that i had the flat to myself..I actually got excited at the thought of having some hours on my own...don't get me wrong my flatmates are without doubt the finest to be found but I like time on my own too.
So I started making custard for dinner..I can see the horror on killians face already..but its what i wanted..
Then I noticed the drain was still blocked in the sink in the kitchen and full of mank mank MANK water....now as Daniel will confirm, I HATE sinks full of manky water and plates and forks swimming in water filled with soggy lettuce and bloated pasta.....if anyone's making a list of how to annoy me thats gotta be near the top...although I think only myself and Daniel make those lists for each other...
So I donned the big rubber gloves ed bought and spent 6 hours trying to unscrew the costic soda bottle to chuck a load of it down the sink...my spanish doesn't stretch to costic soda instructions so I decided chucking 4 shakes down would do it....then I realised that I dont really know what costic soda does or whether I should be chucking it anywhere and these gloves don't really look that tough.......I started imagining my arm melting like in who framed roger rabbit when they have the green goo to kill all the toons......that film rocks...yeah so my arm didn't melt off but my sink is still blocked...
The other thing I did tonight was talk to my mammy which always leaves me feeling so happy.
And then my pops emailed me this photo of him and my mum at my dads do in Doheny and Nesbitts.
I think they look fantastic.
